Caitriona Balfe is the star of Outlander, a new television series based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series. The show was filmed in Scotland and has been getting rave reviews since it premiered in April of 2017.

The video shows the actress as she walks into a room with a group of other women, who appear to be auditioning for the part of Claire. After a brief conversation, the women walk away and Caitriona Balfe is asked to read a scene from the book. She then reads a scene from the book and follows it up with a monologue.
In the scene, Claire and Jamie are on the run and Claire is tending to Jamie’s wound, as he is unconscious. She is holding him up and trying to keep him alive while she is also trying to save herself from the English soldiers who are chasing them. The scene is intense and emotional.

Even in the brief moment in this film, we can witness Balfe’s sharpness, commanding presence and charming, flirtatious spirit which helps to create a bond with Claire and Jamie

Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner for the mothership series is the writer and director of the prequel. It will be based on Jamie Fraser’s love affair with his parents Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
