Tailer footage for Thor: Love and Thunder was first released. It featured Thor getting back in shape, Thor’s body, and NATALIE PORTMAN RETURNING WITH THE THOR’S HAMMER.
While most people were aware of and ready for Portman’s return to Lady Thor, they didn’t know the incredible muscular build Portman had achieved for the role. Portman appeared significantly stronger and more toned than she did in any of her movies, including the MCU.
It is not uncommon for actors to undergo remarkable physical transformations in order to fulfill their MCU roles. Natalie Portman’s transformation may be the most notable.
Naomi Pendergast was Natalie’s trainer and recently spoke out about what it was like working alongside Portman and how she got the new look in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Naomi and Natalie began their training in October 2020. This was approximately four months before the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder.
Naomi stated that she and Portman entered the workout with two goals in mind: becoming stronger and more muscular, and avoiding injuries. Naomi’s workout plan for Portman was particularly focused on Portman’s wrists. Portman would, of course, be carrying Mjolnir!
Naomi discovered that the Mjolnir on set weighed around 3-4 pounds. Although that may sound small, if you carry it and swing it all day it will start to become a significant weight and can even cause injuries to your wrists. Naomi explained that she had prescribed wrist exercises to Portman before she went on set.
Naomi said that Portman was a model of healthy eating and a good example to her. Portman is vegan so Naomi had no choice but to make Portman’s meals more plant-based. Naomi described Portman’s training day as the following:
Her breakfast would be vegan and include oats, berries, and a protein shake. Her snacks throughout the day would include fruit, nuts and salads. She would serve vegan falafel with a protein shake for lunch, followed by a vegan curry and proteinshake for dinner.
Children, it’s not that hard to be the Mighty Thor.
Fans are eagerly awaiting Portman’s performance on Thor: Love and Thunder. It drops in theaters in April.
