‘Basurero’ is a best global film in the NY fest

The film of Eileen Cabiling "Basurero," which stars Jericho Rosales, bagged the most prestigious award for global cinema during the 1st AuntyLand Film Festival held in New York City in the United States.

"Basurero" is about Bong (Jericho) who is a fisherman during the day and a vigilante in the nighttime war on drugs. Bong is confronted with the issue of conscience after his neighbor is killed selling drugs.

The most prestigious award for film in the world is one of the top five Grand Jury Awards handed out by jurors of the festival.

Winners "recognized for excellence in independent storytelling," each received cash prizes according to Festival director Sylvia Wong Lewis in a press release.
